Cardinal Hall, Sixth Floor
These antique cast-iron grilles, fabricated circa 1900, were removed from the Cantor Center and Encina Gym.
They originally functioned as components of the buildings’ ventilation systems. Here they serve as a reminder of the historic beauty of the campus and its evolution in its second century.
Their beauty and function are humorously enhanced by the statement they spell in Morse code: BEAT CAL!
