Tim Craighead
Printmaking
2007

Discovery Hall, Fifth Floor

Born in Los Angeles, Tim Craighead is a contemporary artist known for his painting and printmaking. Though his style might look abstract, he challenges that assertion and describes his work as “inhabiting a space between objective and nonobjective painting.” His pieces are layered with colors, forms, shapes, and designs that resemble symbols and objects that float in a surreal, weightless suspension.

Craighead received his MFA from Columbia University in 1991 and his BA in Printmaking and Sculpture from University of California Santa Cruz in 1981. His work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions at contemporary galleries and museums around the US, and he was an Artist in Residence at The San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art in 2012.
