SRWC partners with San Mateo County to support COVID-19 testing site for neighboring community

Stanford Redwood City is supporting San Mateo County’s COVID-19 testing efforts, by providing  a mobile testing site on campus for the neighboring community. Stanford is not administering the tests. The testing will occur in the parking lot at the corner of Bay Road and Douglas Avenue and will not impact essential staff on campus.

Testing will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day on Aug. 27 and 28 and Sept. 3 and 4. San Mateo County expects to test 500 people per day.

The targeted population for the San Mateo mobile testing site are the underserved and uninsured in Redwood City and surrounding communities. You can share sign-up information found on the county’s website with residents in the neighboring communities.

State directives have reduced the number of tests that counties can conduct and laboratories are facing an extreme backlog, resulting in delayed test results. For these reasons, Stanford employees, whether on campus or working from home, are discouraged from signing up.

As announced on August 20, Stanford’s own surveillance testing plan will be phased in, beginning in late August. Essential staff who have been approved to work on campus at least once a week and who use Stanford’s Health Check tool to report their health status will receive emails in the coming weeks with registration details. Refer to Health Alerts for complete program details.
