The newest members of the Stanford Redwood City community will be children from the ages of six weeks to five attending the soon-to-open Pine Cone Children’s Center.
Opening on September 30 and operated by Bright Horizons, the developmentally appropriate play-based facility was designed with children in mind and encourages indoor and outdoor play.
Senior Director of WorkLife Strategy Phyllis Stewart Pires said, “There was a lot of emphasis on teachers in creating this center. We took great thought in considering what would be comfortable and effective for them when engaging with children and families in the space.”
Pine Cone Children’s Center includes nine classrooms and many teacher work spaces. The center’s front lobby is a welcoming area for families and children and opens into the outdoor grounds designed for creative play.
Behind the children’s center, the Stanford Commons park is under construction. The park should be accessible to the public in the coming months.
Keep it slow for the kid zone
Drivers should be extra cautious inside and around Barron Garage as parents will be escorting their children to and from the child care center after parking. In front of the Pine Cone Children’s Center , located at 900 Barron Avenue, drivers should also be mindful of the drop-off zone. Those parking spots are for families only and violators will be ticketed. If you enter the drop-off zone by mistake, please do not make an illegal U-turn; proceed forward and go around the block.
The center’s operating hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Closure days will align with the Stanford University calendar.
